Despite an icy start and temperatures of -3 degrees, over 80+ dedicated athletes showed up for our first session of 2026.
The Leamington Atheltics Academy coaching team worked quickly and creatively to deliver a challenging session for all those braving the cold.
WELL DONE EVERYONE.
Preparing for Cold Weather Training
Athletes should dress in multiple layers. Gloves are a must to protect hands. For younger athletes, long trousers are required when temperatures fall below 4 degrees.
Kit Tips for winter workouts:
Spikes (6mm) - safe footwear for track. Try Warwick Sports
Base layer: Moisture-wicking fabric
Middle layer: Insulating layer like fleece or wool
Outer layer: Windproof and water-resistant jacket
Accessories: Gloves, hats, and thermal socks
Track Closures: Stay Connected
Athletics often continue regardless of the weather, but safety comes first.
If the track is closed by Everyone Active due to unsafe conditions, parents will be notified promptly through email, social media, and the LAA Community WhatsApp group.
