With indoor sportshall events, training at Loughborough and also cross country hotting up for the end of season, there will be barely time to breathe before we are into the summer track season.... and we can't wait!
LAA TIME TRAIL NIGHT
Overcoming Barriers to Competition
4th & 11th February
To help athletes get used to the idea of competing, we will be holding a Time Trail night for all teen academy athletes only. It will be like a 'competition rehersal' with a registration desk and warmup cards, so they can be responsible for their own prep before the race on the track. This is to break barriers for those who don't usually compete and to practice what it's like to be in a competitive environment.
On the night athletes will wear a number and select two events to race and be timed.
Monday 4th February - 60m, 150m, 600m 1km
Wednesady 11th February - 60m, 150m, 600m 1km
Arrive at your usual time with everything you think you will need to be competitive.
GOOD LUCK!

AGE GROUP CHANGE
NOTICE FROM ENGLAND ATHLETICS
From April 1, 2026 young athletes will compete in their new age groups, as England Athletics revises them, so that they align with World Athletics (WA).
U10: school years 3 and 4
U12: years 5 and 6
U14: years 7 and 8
U16: years 9 and 10
U18: years 11 and 12
U20: year 13 & 14
The rules will be effective from 1 April 2026, so athletes will compete in the 2026 track and field season in the above age groups.
These new age groups will replace the existing U13, U15 and U17 groupings in clubs and will ensure that athletes compete across the school year (in England) from October-September 2026 in the same age group across all competitive events; cross country, road , track and field.
These changes may affect the hurdle heights/distances or the weight of throwing implement you will use this year. Please check with your coach
WELL DONE SOFIA & AMELIA!
Reward For Their Efforts

Sofia (left), Amelia(right)
Sofia J surprised herself and us with a 2nd place, at the ISA cross country champs last week. LAA had another athlete in the top ten , with Amelia F. having a tremendous run finishing in 10th. We just wanted to say BRAVO, we are so proud of you both!
SEE YOU AT TRACK!
