ABOUT
Established in September 2011, LAA is a multi-event Leamington athletics club affiliated with England Athletics. We offer training for athletes aged 4 – 18 years old in all track and field events and a full-body fitness Bootcamp for ages 14+.
Our athletics club offers three training days across over 20 sessions, we are proud to have over 400 members who are all supported by a team of over 40 coaches and sports leaders including ex Olympians, England Athletic Tutors, Event Specialist Coaches, Personal Trainers, and more.
Athletes will be encouraged to compete in competitions if they wish and we offer additional support to said athletes to ensure they are ready for competition day in whatever event(s) they choose to compete in.
We also encourage athletes to specialize in events when ready but not before they are 13 years old. Event specialist sessions are by invitation only once an athlete has shown potential either in attitude and/or ability.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Play - Practice - Perform
LAA coach and assess technical proficiency using England Athletics‘ curriculum ‘Athletics365’ as well as our own LAA curriculum.
LAA athletes are offered competition opportunities for both indoors (Sportshall) and outdoors (track & field, cross country) but competition is not compulsory.
HOW WE COACH

LAA TRAINING
All athletes are coached in fundamental movement skills; agility, balance, and coordination. Coaches also use games to keep training fun and help athletes learn the technical aspects of all track and field events. The children are organized into groups depending on their age so that they can be coached more effectively. The groups are as follows:
-
Track Tots:
-
Building coordination and mobility skills through games and basic run-jump-throw.
-
-
Mini Academy:
-
Learn track etiquette, and increasing focus on run-jump-throw, and relays.
-
-
Junior Academy:
-
Learn warm-ups, running drills and are introduced to and are assessed on the technical aspects of all events. This group has opportunities to compete.
-
-
Under 13 Academy:
-
Develop their skills in practising all events and assessed on the technical aspects of all events. This group is also encouraged to compete.
-
-
Teen Academy:
-
Develop their skills in practising all events and have an opportunity to specialize in sprinting or endurance. They also practice jumps and throws to help find their favourite event. Specialist training sessions are also available for this age group.
-
-
Open Track:
-
Drills, conditioning, practice, and detailed technical coaching allowing the athlete to excel at the chosen event. Sessions are delivered in smaller groups with a specialist coach.
-
-
Bootcamp:
-
Complete body fitness and conditioning sessions ran by Michelle Clements - a qualified PT, Athletics, and Fitness coach.
-
